Trinity Presbyterian Church
A congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America
Our Core Values
PREAMBLE
The members of Trinity Presbyterian Church are called together in Christ to glorify God and enjoy Him forever. We are in essential agreement with the historic Westminster Confession of Faith, and are reformed in theology and presbyterian in government. We believe that God has, through the Bible, revealed the infallible truth that Jesus Christ is the only name in Heaven or on earth by which men may be saved. We seek to spread this truth, as required of us in the Great Commission, through ministries of outreach to our local community and the larger world. We also seek a balance between faithfulness to the truth, and a humble and graceful attitude towards those who differ with us on non-essential doctrine. We will gently teach, and humbly be teachable.
WORSHIP
We believe that the highest calling of the Christian is to glorify God through God-centered, historically informed, Trinitarian worship. Each member of the congregation, and every member of the family is a participant, and God is the audience. As the body of Christ, we will seek to make worship the priority in our lives, and indeed the focus of our lives seven days a week. Worship is carefully proscribed in holy scripture to include certain elements, that of prayer, singing, the reading and preaching of the word, the sacraments, confessions of faith and sin, and the receiving of tithes and offerings. We will seek to create a worship environment that recapitulates the drama of the gospel, and pictures our redemption in Christ, in relevant language and actions. We pray that, through such worship, God will sow seeds in the soil of the congregation, and that from those seeds will spring up deeds of love and mercy, in His providence.
COMMUNITY AND WORLD INVOLVEMENT
Trinity Presbyterian Church will seek to empower the members of the congregation for service in the community and the world, through the use of our money and our time. We will actively look for and respond to opportunities to bring gospel orientation to our community, hoping to increase the presence of TPC locally. Hopefully working in this way will bring us alongside other churches, so as to broaden our fellowship. We will also seek out and support world missions with an aim towards planting reformed churches.
As always, these works are to be understood in the context of God’s grace, knowing that it is He that prepares good works in advance that we may walk in them, and that He is the giver of all good gifts. Through His grace, not to earn His favor, which we can never do, we wish to create in our members, a sense of ministry, as individuals, as members of the local church, and as members of the church universal, with servant hearts, building up the Kingdom of God through His power, looking forward to the day when the knowledge of the Lord will cover the earth as the waters cover the sea.
FAMILY LIFE
Our families will be the focus of our internal ministries, and we will seek to build them up through worship, meeting together for prayer and studies, and fellowshipping together in the joy and freedom that is ours through Christ. We want to enable our members to apply the scriptures to every area of their lives, through applying the servant heart of Christ to building one another up and meeting one another’s needs. We will pray with and for one another, encourage and help one another, communicate with each other, and seek to always be there for one another. We will seek to minister to the whole spectrum of members, without superseding the biblical role of the family.
